A widely recognized, revolutionary approach to treating back and neck pain, the McKenzie Method is a comprehensive therapeutic program which uses a system of assessment, classification, and active patient involvement to diagnose conditions and prescribe treatment. PinnacleHealth Spine Centers are two of less than 30 Certified McKenzie Clinics in the United States.
Based on the cause and effect relationship between pain and pain response, the Method relies on a fine-tuned algorithm to determine condition categories, enabling practitioners to better pinpoint the mechanical source of a patient’s historical pain.
The program often results in reduced number of physical therapy visits for the patient as well as greater self-sufficiency.
Evaluation and Treatment
Following diagnosis, our highly trained McKenzie Method specialists prescribe and execute individualized treatment plans which involve extension exercises as well as specified movements and positions. The ultimate goal is to decrease pain, restore function, and enable patients to move toward self-treatment at home.
If a problem does not respond to McKenzie methods, a different direction of treatment is quickly recommended.
